Check out a few places where stories within our organization have been published:
Bittersweet Monthly - "Stitching Together New Futures"
WTCI Greater Chattanooga - "One Stitch at a Time"
The following are stories of a few of the amazing women who are currently in our program and are working hard to create a better future for themselves and their families.
These ladies have already taken the first steps toward a better future and are referred to us by way of community partnerships. Our current partnerships include: Women at the Well, Family Promise, Women of Hope, & personal sponsorships.
Jessica is a 31-year-old single mother who is working tirelessly to provide for her sweet little girl. Coming from a past of addiction, she didn't obtain her GED until the age of 29. But since then, she has been taking steps to achieve both long and short-term goals in order to further her education. This past August, Jessica made the courageous decision to go back to school to pursue a career in social work. She is a living picture of what it means to give out of ALL the good God has given to her; she wants to spend her life helping others pursue a whole and healthy life. Jessica has chosen the difficult path of becoming self-aware and determining what she really wants in life, and we think she'll do some pretty amazing things.
Crystal is a beautiful mother and grandmother ( can you believe it?) who joined Free2Fly with a background of homelessness. Additionally, Crystal is physically handicapped, and she has to navigate all the complexities of life in a wheelchair. However, Crystal has such a strong spirit about her. She's determined to provide for her children and her grandchild in a way that she's never been able to before. She is 36-years-old, but she has never been able to pay her own bills or provide a roof over her family's head until coming to Free2Fly and working towards sustainability. Thankfully, Crystal has been able to pay rent for an apartment on her own for the past 2 years, and is making progress toward further sustainability. She has also been able to save money for the first time in her life!
Hannah came to Free2Fly from a program called Women at the Well which serves women transitioning out of addiction. She is a mother to two precious boys, and many of her short and long-term goals have revolved around seeing them more, and she has been able to achieve this! She is currently in a place of simply not knowing where she wants to end up career-wise. She has been diligently praying about this, and is looking into beginning classes at Cleveland State next year to take the first steps to furthering her education. We are so proud of the progress she has made in her time at Free2Fly!
