What a scary and unprecedented time in our history that we have been trying to navigate these past few months. Families, businesses, and organizations have been forced to figure out how to carry on while keeping people safe in the process. It has been no different for us here at Free 2 Fly. We followed mandates to close our storefront for a time, as well as delayed several women from starting our program. However, we were able to transition to producing fabric face masks to keep our current participants working and earning an income for their families.
There were several supporters from our community who came forward and gave generous donations to make and distribute face masks to sustain our daily operations during this time.
We were able to produce and distribute 2,500 masks for free to our community - including small businesses, health care workers, school employees, and more. We have now transitioned to selling masks on our website and will continue to do so for as long as the need is there.
We were honored to have MSNBC come visit our storefront and highlight our organization and how we were handling the ever changing Covid 19 rules and regulations. From that news segment, orders began flooding in from all over the country. Seeing the support of our loyal customers along with a wave of new followers was beyond humbling and we are forever thankful we were able to spread our mission in such a grand way!
Now that things are beginning to reopen in our area we were thrilled to be able to start two new women in the program. They are doing so well! Both have wonderful, teachable attitudes and are learning new fundamentals of sewing quickly. They have already begun their first enrichment class, learning all about basic personal finances. We are so happy with the courageous steps they are taking to be the women that God has created them to be!
Over the last few months we have seen the Lord continue to bless us. People continued to purchase our products from our website, others were making financial donations and purchasing items off our Amazon Wishlist. We are grateful for the endless love, prayers, and support.
As we continue to adapt in the coming months, we hope to add more women to our program, but we need your help. By financially giving to our organization you are directly helping women begin a new chapter and start on a sustainable path.
