We Salute You, Stay-at-Home-Moms!

Identity - If you are a full-time SAHM (Stay at Home Mom), it’s likely that you have felt like you’ve “lost yourself” at one time or another. It’s understandable, seeing as how you are taking care of your child/children, running errands, and keeping up the house nonstop. You don’t always have time to stop and think about you. While serving those you love and working hard in your particular context are admirable, these acts aren’t worth overlooking your particular uniqueness. You were created with certain gifts, strengths, and interests that may not expose themselves in the context of motherhood, and that’s okay.

Here’s the truth of it: you are more than just a mom. You are more than the piles of laundry, the endless grocery runs, the drop-off and pick-up at school, the manager of child tantrums and drama, and the complement to your spouse. You were created to pursue what you love and value, and you are more than capable to achieve your personal goals and dreams. Your voice and presence are valuable to those around you, and others are truly at a loss if they do not get to experience your truest and fullest self.

So, take a deep breath. Map out a day where you can get alone to plan and dream. Practice a little self-care now and again. And don’t ever forget that you are mom AND…not just mom.

You are strong, capable, brave, determined, loved, and full of value.
